Intake-ESM Seminar with Jupyterhub

Europe/Berlin
Zoom
Fabian Wachsmann, Marco Kulüke
Description

Intake is a Python package that simplifies data browsing and data preparation tasks for data analysis. If your work involves climate data analysis of big collaborative projects such as CMIP, this seminar is of interest for you.

In this seminar you will learn more about the functions and motivations of Intake and its plugin Intake-ESM. We highlight the new workflows and services of the DKRZ data infrastructure group for hosting project catalogues. In the practical parts, you open and browse the catalogs to find the data that interests you. You will then learn how to access data using the underlying Dask and Xarray packages and load it into your Python analysis workflow. Moreover we will teach you best practices and we will guide you through creating your own catalogs, if there is enough time.

The seminar addresses experienced Python users who know how to start jupyterhub. The prerequisite for participating in the practical part is that you have a DKRZ account with resources for HPC use.
